Batman!

The Dallas Arboretum is one of our very favorite places for so many reasons, one of which is the Mommy and Me Mondays they do in the fall and spring.  With Kindermusik, a petting zoo, and face painting, it is such a fun way to spend a morning and a great place for a picnic. This fall, Charlie discovered the face painting area and now just loves it.  He does not get terribly creative--he always wants to be "black batman" (black referring to the color of the paint :).  He thinks he looks terribly fierce and impressive and is just so thrilled with himself.  It takes all my negotiating power to get the batman paint off before bedtime, as Charlie always earnestly promises to "sleep with my face pointing straight up; I won't get anything on my pillow!"

Evie is very interested in the idea of face painting, but can't quite work up the courage to go through with it.  She has requested "pink batman" and a "butterfly," but always gets extremely anxious when her turn comes up.  She frets over the whole thing and always regrets her decision not to get her face painted, but there is no way to get her up in the chair.   Poor Eves!

Here is fierce batman and his little sidekick (this is pre-Halloween, obviously, so another old post :).

 Face painting in progress...
Batman just loves to check himself out in the mirror.  Colin was extremely impressed with the face paint.
The kids love Miss Lisa's Kindermusik time.  Evie was the funniest little dancer with her scarves!

We met up with Jack and Kate one day and Charlie was so thrilled to have more painted face companions.  He and Jack (the two Batmans) were terrorizing all the poor non-Batman children at the Arboretum.
