My Dallas Baby Shower
Here I am with Corrine, a friend of mine who is due two weeks after me (also with a little boy). We are so excited that our little guy will have a little playmate!
My cousin, Addie, and my sister, Meg, came up to Dallas for the shower with my mom and my aunt. It was so fun to get to spend some time with them--they always make everything so much more fun!
I know that my eyes are closed, but it's the only picture I got with Meg (and she looks cute :).
Here I am with some of my best girls friends from college. It was so great to have all of them in town--Courtney and Sarah came in from Houston, Jordan and Jill came in from Austin, and Kelly came in from LA! (and Ann and Cyn are here with me in Dallas, but loved seeing them too :). Love you guys!
Kelly brought her 6 1/2 month-old son, Cooper, in from LA with her, so we went to see him after the shower. He is one of the cutest, sweetest, happiest babies I have ever seen--the kind that deceives you into thinking that being a mother won't be hard at all. :)

My Seguin Baby Shower

I love this picture of the room--it really captures the fun time we had on Saturday.

Here is my mom, my aunt Dede, and my cousin's daughter Abigail. Isn't she adorable??

Opening presents--so fun! :)
Here I am with my other two pregnant cousins. They are both due in August (within a week of each other!) and Clint and I are so excited that Snuggie is getting two little playmates so close to his own age. The three of us had so much fun growing up together, and I know our kids will as well. Megan is having a boy (yay!), and we are eagerly waiting to hear what Amy is having...
Here I am with all of my wonderful hostesses--you guys are incredible!
Thank you all so much for a wonderful shower and a very special weekend. Clint and I had so much fun unpacking Snuggie's new things in his nursery last night. This little boy is going to be well-outfitted!

30 Weeks!

I think my favorite part of the past week or two has been the bond that Clint and I have been developing with our little guy. Clint has gotten in the habit of talking to Snuggie at night, and the Snugs loves it! Even when he hasn't been moving at all, he wakes up as soon as Clint starts talking to him and starts doing all kinds of kicks and other movements. I will feel him move toward Clint's voice and then he kicks vigorously in response to Clint's questions (Clint's favorite thing to do is tell him about things that are going on with us and get his opinion--telling him "kick once for yes and twice for no." Not surprisingly, Snuggie always has an opinion :). When Clint is finished talking to him, I always feel a barrage of angry little kicks, as if Snuggie is telling us that he's not finished with the conversation. I knew Snugs would be a daddy's boy once he arrived, but I had no idea it would begin so early...

How (Not) To Name a Fetus
"Something that caught me unaware when friends and family started having kids was the tendency that soon-to-be parents have to name their fetuses. I did not really understand this phenomena until we found ourselves in the same predicament. You start feeling strange calling your unborn human "it;" I mean people don't even refer to their pets as "it." Unaware of the sex of the baby, you feel strange referring to it as "he," "she," or calling it one of the names you are considering. Katie and I were faced, in naming our fetus, with the first of many decisions to make during this pregnancy. As you know, the King of Pop died on June 25th. When we found out we were pregnant in September, the tabloids and newspapers were still filled with speculation about the cause of death. Katie and I had watched the bizarre documentary, "Living with Michael Jackson," by Martin Basheer, and I was reminded of "Blanket," the nickname of MJ's youngest testube experiment. In the show, MJ states that he calls the poor kid Blanket, because he "blankets me with his love," which I thought was really funny/creepy. Out of respect for the King of Pop, I was convinced we should call our little guy "Blanket." Katie, who has a very low creepy tolerance, felt that this name was inappropriate. Soon after this conversation, a commercial for "Snuggie," the blanket with the arms, came on, and I knew we had found our name (still "Blanket," but updated for 2010). He has all the warmth and coziness of a blanket, but with all the functionality of a shirt. Any derivation of Snuggie is acceptable--Snugs, Snuggers, Nuggie, Nug, Snuggaloo, Snuggles, etc. "
And although these photos are old (they are from his 18-week sonogram), I had to include them.
