Charlie had a very exciting event right before Christmas--his first sleepover! Sam and Audra invited him to come spend a night at their house and although we wondered a bit about how he would do, it was all in vain, as he LOVED his time away. He had no qualms about leaving; in true Charlie style, he just bounded out the door with them when they came to pick him up. Their first stop was at a fire station in their neighborhood, where one of their friends was on duty. Charlie was thrilled with this excursion, and told me all about which trucks he saw and which were missing during his visit. He loved sitting in the trucks, but was admittedly "a yittle scared" when they turned on the sirens. :)
The most thrilling part of the visit was watching the fire engines zoom away to an "emergency." Charlie (correctly) reported that it was a car crash, not a fire.
After the fire station, they went to get sandwiches and ice cream (Charlie's request). He loved his sandwich--I heard that it had "yettuce" (lettuce) and "I don't know the other things, but it was GOOD." And he had vanilla ice cream with sprinkles to top it all off!
I met them at their church the next morning to pick him up, and arrived just as he was stuffing a cupcake in his mouth. Needless to say, he was NOT thrilled to see me. I imagined more of a sweet reunion, but instead, I rode home with him crying because he wanted to stay with Sam and Audra. :) When he finally did recover, I got a very explicit, detailed run-down of their evening. I think he reported every detail of their time together, including where each one read books to him (Audra on the couch and Sam in the "BIG big boy bed") and the fact that he could hear them going pee-pee on the potty. :) Better not say anything we don't want repeated anymore! I am so grateful for this sweet aunt and uncle--Charlie is so lucky to have you guys!
