Three Months Old

I cannot believe my baby is 3 months old today! Charlie took his third month by storm and is suddenly seeming less and less like a newborn and more and more like a little boy. He is continually cracking us up with his little antics. This month, he became much better at rolling over (front to back). He does this several times a week now, but there still isn't a great deal of consistency to it--for example, he often can't seem to remember how to do it and still screams at me to get him off his tummy when he's had enough. His favorite new trick is to hold our hands and pull from a sitting to a standing position. It is so cute to watch him do this--when he makes it up to standing, he has the biggest, proudest smile you have ever seen. It's like he's saying "guys, guys, aren't you impressed? Wasn't that amazing?" The first time he did it he was so wobbly he looked like someone getting up on water skis for the first time, but now he is quite good. Now that he is holding his head up better, Charlie really likes to be up--either standing on a lap or sitting (preferably on a lap as well). His Bumbo has become a favorite place to hang out (although I think he gets exhausted holding that noggin up), and I ordered him an exersaucer/jumper thing and I cannot wait for that to get here--I think he will love it.

Charlie is as social as can be (in small groups--crowds make him a bit nervous) and just loves to talk and play games with us. His favorite games/songs are Wheels on the Bus, Pat-a-Cake, and The Charlie Song (music and lyrics by yours truly). He babbles, coos, and laughs constantly. He says "goo" and "ah-goo" quite a bit and thinks it is hilarious when we imitate him. And although he used to hate getting his diaper changed, it is now such a fun time for us. He just talks to me the whole time and is full of smiles--so much more fun than the screaming! Charlie has also just started loving books. We read to him in the evening and he studies each page very intently as we go. He has a long attention span--I read three books this way the other night! He has also recently dropped his late evening feeding and has started going to bed at 7:00 at night, which has been SO nice for me and Clint. Although we miss Charlie terribly after he goes down :), we have really enjoyed having our peaceful, relaxing evenings back. Charlie still wakes up once during the night to eat (usually around 3:00) and then sleeps until 6:00 or 6:30. We are loving this new schedule and so appreciate how he's settled into so nicely!

No doctor's appointment this month, so I had to do his measurements on my own (therefore, assume there are some errors here :).

Weight: 14.2 pounds (according to Google, this places him in the 53%)
Height: 25.5 inches (according to Google, this places him in the 84%)

In honor of his third-month birthday, we are taking Charlie golfing (hence the preppy attire below).

All in all, we just love our little guy and so enjoy watching him grow and change. I can't wait to see what his fourth month brings!
