Preparing for Christmas has been so much fun this year. Charlie is really excited about Santa, and there is a lot of talking about the big guy. A gentle "Santa is watching" has an amazing power to transform Charlie's behavior. Charlie's meeting with Santa last year was quite traumatic for him, so I was very curious to see how this year would go. Our first encounter with Santa was at the Snider Plaza tree lighting. Charlie was super excited, but Evie was NOT (see below). Charlie told Santa he wants a garbage truck and ice cream (and has stayed remarkably consistent with those wishes since). He was prepared to tell Santa that Evie wanted a pink truck, but froze up when Santa asked (somehow he managed to get his own desires out, however :). Santa suggested that Evie might want a baby doll, which Charlie interpreted as "baby dog," so that what he's been spreading since. Unfortunately for Miss E, she is NOT getting a baby dog!
Here are our nervous little Charlie and MAD Evie with Santa:
Charlie told me afterwards that "Evie was MAD at Santa!"
We ran into Santa again at the Arboretum. Charlie reiterated his wish for a garbage truck and ice cream and poor Evie again voiced her dislike for Santa. Poor girl will be lucky to get coal in her stocking. :) Notice Charlie's happy face here--I think he has gotten used to Evie's crying!
Colin agrees with Evie!
Santa brought Dasher with him to the Arboretum and we had so much fun seeing a real reindeer!
Our little climber was much more comfortable with Dasher than with Santa. Here she is trying to make her way into his pen...
What a goofball!
Can't wait to see what Santa brings to our house (assuming, of course, that he doesn't hold a grudge against Evie)!
