Easter Nests

Our family has a long-standing tradition of making Easter nests on the day before Easter for the day before Easter for the bunny to leave our baskets in.  Growing up, I assumed everyone did this; it was only when I was an adult that I realized that it wasn't quite such widespread tradition. :)  Despite that, we love the tradition and I have enjoyed seeing our kiddos continue it.  It is so fun to see this entire generation of cousins, ages 9 down to Ford, get so excited about picking wildflowers--even the big boys!

Clint did not grow up making Easter nests, but he has become quite adept at it.  As with everything, he had to make his [Evie's] just perfect.  They are two peas in a pod!

Evie and Charlotte are so funny together.  Charlotte is just over a year older than Evie and Evie just thinks she is amazing.  They were swinging with Robie after nest making and he said their conversation was so funny.  Here is Evie proudly reporting to Charlotte that "when I go pee pee on the potty, I get candy."  I am sure Charlotte was terribly impressed.

Best part of our Seguin trips (aside from Ranger rides and unlimited ESPN, of course): Papa is a tireless reader!

Easter Weekend

We went down to Seguin for Easter weekend and had so much fun celebrating the holiday with family.  Charlie and Evie, as always, were so excited to get down there and begged the whole drive down to "ride the Ranger!"

Ford was so happy to see everyone.  Mr. Smiley was especially thrilled with Julia--here he is smiling for her.

We spent one day out in La Vernia and it was so fun.  Poor E was having terrible allergy problems (she has a horrible pecan pollen allergy), but she is such a tough little thing.  Even when her face is all red and puffy, she doesn't complain a bit.

LECPTA Easter Egg Hunt

Our neighborhood moms' group puts on an Easter egg hunt every year, and I figured this would give Charlie and Evie a chance to practice before the real hunt.  They loved the whole event.  Evie was very enamored with her "egg hunt" dress and now wants to wear it every day [the pom pom bunny tails on the dress are so amazing].  Charlie was determined to get more eggs than anyone else (surprise, surprise :), and at the end, definitely felt that he had done that.  In reality, he was a bit stymied by the size of his basket, but he filled it as full as he possibly could!

Then, on to the hunt!  Charlie rushed around like a man on a mission.  Evie was in much less of a hurry.  She liked to enjoy each egg--she would find an egg, sit down, open it, eat (or inspect) the contents, and then eventually move on to the next egg.  Her strategy did not result in a large quantity of eggs, but since that meant less candy coming home, I was totally fine with that! :)
